Teen philanthropists get to work

Recently, five teen participants in JTConnect’s Teen Leadership and Philanthropy Institute (TLPI) capped their year of study with an inspiring grants ceremony. The intensive course, which is supported by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford, included classroom lessons in philanthropy followed soon thereafter by “field study,” in which the Hartford area teens visited local community agencies where they received grant requests. After thoughtful consideration, the teens awarded nine local Jewish agencies a total of $3,000.

CAP: Attending the TLPI grants ceremony were (l to r): Institute instructor Cyral Sheldon; TLPI students Sam Katz, Ahna Bielik, Michael Cherny, Zoe Friedman and Zachary Sobel-Pressman; and TLPI instructor Rabbi Steven Chatinover.
