JCL is honored to participate in Endow Hartford 21

The Jewish Association for Community Living is pleased to share that they will be participating in local philanthropist Henry Zachs’ visionary endeavor, Endow Hartford 21.

Henry Zachs and the Zachs family need no introduction when it comes to their commitment to community in general, and the nonprofit community in particular. Endow Hartford 21 is another example in a long history of not only direct generous giving by the Zachs family, but also in motivating others to do likewise. So many people in need will be better off when Endow Hart-ford 21 achieves its goals.

Endow Hartford 21 is a new matching gift endowment program, initiated by the Zachs family and supported by other lead donors who believe in the nonprofit community across Greater Hartford. The 1:2 match seeks to inspire donors to give generously to support the long-term future of the organizations they love. Organizations need endowments to secure their future. An endowment helps organizations sustain their mission during periods of revenue fluctua-tions and adapt over time. One donor can make gifts to as many organizations as they choose, with the understanding that a donor is also defined as a household. A gift made to any organi-zation will qualify for a match only if your annual gift to that organization has also been made.

Endowing the Jewish Association for Community Living’s future is the next step to ensuring that they are able to provide lifelong supports to West Hartford residents with developmental disabilities. The match is available through June 30, 2022 – but its impact will last forever.

The Jewish Association for Community Living helps adults with developmental disabilities par-ticipate in community life as independently and safely as possible. Our programs and services are open to all faiths and backgrounds. However, JCL is one of the few organizations in the area that help adults with special needs practice and reinforce their Jewish heritage.

Those interested in making a gift to JCL’s endowment may contact Sarah Winiarski at swiniar-ski@jcl-ct.org or (860) 522-5225 x2239.
