Walter Tobias, 87, of Simsbury, died August 13. He was the husband of Evelyn Anne (Parker) Tobias, and the widower of Evelyn “Evie” (Schupack) Tobias. Born in Cologne, Germany, he was the son of the late Hugo and Irma (Gartner) Tobias. He served in the United States Army for four years, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. He was a longtime member of the congregation at Tikvoh Chadoshoh in Bloomfield. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steve Tobias and his wife Robin of Stafford Springs, Karen Stanford and her husband Ted of Farmington; his grandchildren, Jesse (Nicolle), Lindsay, Ashley (Ken), Jared (Sarah), Michael (Melissa Anne), and Zachary; and his great-grandchildren, Evie and Nina. He was also predeceased by his youngest son Robert S. Tobias.
