
Martin Aaron Schulz, 95, of West Hartford, Conn., formerly of Plainville, Conn., died Feb. 13. He was predeceased by his wife Judith N. (Lovitz) Schulz. Born in Moschitz, Poland (now Ukraine), he was the son of Adele and Pinchas Schulz, both of whom died in the Holocaust. He was the only member of his family to survive the Holocaust. Martin fled from his family home at age 13, hid his Jewish identity in Germany, spent several years in a displaced persons’ camp before immigrating to Hartford in 1949. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as part of the allied occupation force in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Upton of Canton, Conn., and Laura Rosenberg and her husband John of Avon, Conn., and Philip Schulz and his wife Lonni of Simsbury, Conn.; his grandchildren, Benjamin Levy (Heather) of Milford, Conn., Rebecca Schulz and her (David Gabay) of Bethesda, Md., Jonathan Schulz of Boston, Mass., Bradley and Max Rosenberg of Avon; and his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Emma Levy of Milford.
