Connecticut (streaming only)—The Davis Film Festival presents “Our (Almost Completely True) Love Story,” hosted by UJA-JCC Greenwich; comedy/romance. An aging screen legend and jobless voice actor navigate the Los Angeles senior dating scene, in this (mostly) true-life romantic dramedy. When they first meet-cute in North Hollywood, Mariette Hartley and Jerry Sroka couldn’t be a more unlikely duo. She’s tall, famous and classy. He’s short and hides behind Groucho Marx and Woody Allen impressions. Can they overcome life’s baggage for a Hollywood ending. Information: ujajcc.org. $9

West Hartford, Conn.—A Howard J. Siegal Leadership Institute Program: “Giving Together: An Interactive Philanthropy Workshop;” with Sasha Raskin-Yin, a Jewish educator and nonprofit leader who has supported the growth of hundreds of Jewish organizations. 6:30-8:30 p.m.; An interactive philanthropy program featuring Amplifier, an experiential learning lab powered by Jewish Federations of North America. Through this hands-on workshop, you will learn and practice a range of relationship-centered approaches to philanthropy, including: starting conversations, exploring Jewish values, and making a collective gift. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21

Sherman, Conn.— #MakeMusicDay at the JCC in Sherman; 4 – 9 p.m.  A free evening of music held annually on June 21st, the longest day of the year. Our event is part of the larger Make Music Day, an international summer solstice music celebration occurring in 1,000+ cities across the globe. Music “Performed by Anyone, Enjoyed by Everyone. We already have a few musicians booked for your listening pleasure. Join us to make music together! Open to music makers of all ages, skill levels, and musical persuasions!  We invite musicians, rappers and instrumentalists of all kinds to collaborate on making June 21 a musical masterpiece. Connecticut (streaming only)— Davis Film Festival presents “Genealogy of a Murder: Coffee and Light Biteswith Author Lisa Belkin”; 10:30 a.m., at the home of Karen Ross (address provided upon registration). Meet award-winning journalist and author Lisa Belkin as she shares her thoughts on her new book: Genealogy Of A Murder, A multigenerational tale of three families whose paths collide Independence Day weekend in 1960 with the murder of a police officer. MONDAY, JULY 10

Lenox, Mass.— The Berkshire Jewish Film Festival 2023 will kick off it’s  37th season on Monday, July 10. The festival feature six weeks of outstanding films and talkbacks presented live and in-person at the Duffin Theater, Lenox Memorial Middle and H.S. at 197 East Street in Lenox, Massachusetts. Season passes are available for purchase at www.knessetisrael.org/filmfestival and will be mailed to you in June. Passes purchased after June 26 after July 10 may be picked up at the Duffin Theater. Individual tickets are only available on the day of the show.

SUNDAY, JULY 16 (5 p.m.) -TUESDAY, JULY 18 (9 p.m.)

Connecticut (stream only)— The Davis Film Festival presents “DFF – Rose,” hosted by UJA-JCC Greenwich. The joys of celebrating the birthday of the Goldberg family patriarch give way to sorrow as his sudden death leaves his devoted wife Rose (screen legend Françoise Fabian) uncertain of how to navigate life as a widow approaching 80. Her family offers little solace, but gradually Rose begins to advocate for her wishes and pursue her desires, rejecting the societal pressure to “act her age” and fade into benign oblivion. Actress and screenwriter Aurélie Saada makes her directorial debut with this life-affirming reminder that it’s never too late to seek fulfillment. Winner of the Variety Piazza Grande Award at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival.
