JACOBS

Marjorie (Labov) Jacobs, 95, of New Haven, CT, died Jan. 18. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Stanley ‘Bud’ Jacobs. Born in New Haven, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Charlotte (Ullman) Labov. She was also predeceased by Joseph Labov. She is survived by her children, Bruce Jacobs (Irene), Daniel Jacobs (Nancy), and Lynn Jacobs (Jeremy Hyman); her sister Ruth Grossman; her grandchildren, Kevin (Sara), Allison (Joshua Kuhr), and Jonah; her great-granddaughters, Mika, Noa, and Oren. She was a top student at what was then one of the top high schools in the country. She was admitted to MIT, without even applying, and ultimately decided to attend Vassar College, from which she graduated in 1950. She attended one year at the Yale School of Architecture, before starting a family. She later returned to school and obtained a master’s in art education, and taught art and art history at the Hopkins School for a number of years. She an accomplished painter in various media and exhibited her work in both Connecticut and Nantucket, MA, where she and her husband spent 50 summers in their house on the ocean. She and Bud also loved to travel, all over the world. She was also an accomplished athlete. She excelled at golf and tennis. Every winter she and Bud would spend several weeks in Snowmass, CO, skiing and enjoying the beauty of the mountains.
