Israeli director named best at Buenos Aires film fest

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (JTA) – Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid was named Best Director at the 17th edition of the Buenos Aires Film Festival for his film “The Kindergarten Teacher,” about a teacher in Tel Aviv who becomes obsessed with one of the children in her charge – a 5-year-old poet. The film also was in the running for best film in the international contest. The Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival is one of the largest cinema contests in Latin America. Almost 450 films were shown in 23 venues during the 10 days of the festival which ended on April 25.
