Calling Jews apes and pigs, is widespread in the Arab and Muslim world. Firmly grounded in Islamic religious sources, it dehumanizes Jewish people and justifies their subjugation and elimination: Jihad.
This all leads to the current situation where the leader of a country we formerly were allied with, the dictatorial Mohammed Morsi, easily glides into this language, and the U.S., while objecting, in point of fact ignores it. Instead, the Obama administration trots out the hapless Jay Carney to say, “We completely reject these statements,” and at the same time ships advanced weapons to that very dictator.
The pending delivery of American made F-16 fighter jets and 200 of our latest version of the Abrams tank to Egypt is a material development that considerably elevates the strategic threat to Israel. Egypt is now the third largest recipient of F-16’s in the world after Turkey and Israel and Israel is the only conceivable target of the Egyptian military.
