Rabbi Dana Bogatz named JFS chaplain

Rabbi Dana Z. BogatzRabbi Dana Z. Bogatz of Milford has been appointed Brownstein Jewish Family Service Chaplain of the Jewish Federation of Western CT in Southbury, it was announced recently.
Bogatz, who has 16 years of experience as a pulpit rabbi and chaplain, also serves as spiritual leader of Congregation Sinai of West Haven and Milford.
As JFS chaplain, “Rabbi Dana,” as she is known, makes hospital and nursing home visits to unaffiliated Jewish patients, often with her friendly Dalmatian, Sabrina, by her side. Those who may need her services include anyone who: has been admitted to a hospital; is a resident of a long term care facility; has a chronic or terminal illness that keeps them homebound; is recovering at home from an illness or surgery; has experienced a loss; is lonely; would welcome prayer or Torah study; is missing the celebration of Jewish holidays.
In her role as chaplain, Bogatz will also offer occasional Lunch & Learn programs at the Jewish Federation. The first such program will be held on Thursday, March 21, 12 noon on the Jewish Federation campus, 444 Main St. North. She will discuss “Getting Your Chametz Out.”
“Passover is a time to get rid of our spiritual, as well as physical, chametz. Let’s look at ways to clean out the behaviors, thoughts and attitudes which do not serve us well, making way for healthier living,” says Bogatz.
A special pre-Passover lunch will be served. A donation of $7.50 to cover the cost of lunch is requested. For lunch reservations or to schedule a visit from Rabbi Dana, call (203) 267-3177.
