GOLANSKI

Solomon Golanski, 97, of West Hartford, formerly of Hartford, died Nov. 27. He was the widower of Etta (Sherman) Golanski. Born in Novogrudok, Poland, he was a Holocaust survivor. He was imprisoned in a labor camp during the war where he and other prisoners secretly dug a tunnel below the camp fence that led into the forest. Along with more than 100 other prisoners, he escaped one night into the woods, where he joined the Bielski Partisans. He is survived by his son Alani and his wife Gina; and his grandchildren, Creeley and Cy.
