Bernie Abrams, formerly of West Hartford, passed away peacefully at his home in Laguna Hills, Calif., at age 90. Son of immigrant parents, he was a self-made man who became a prominent businessman and philanthropist, after serving in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Bernie is survived by his wife Jane (Wiesen) with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, love, and devotion. Also his five children: Donald Abrams of Balboa Island, Calif.; Jodi Seaver of Dublin, N.H.; Betsy Abrams of Boston, Mass.; Wendy Bassell of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; and Diane Abrams of Boston, Mass., and their spouses. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren from ages 36 to 3. The family asks that donations be made in Bernie’s honor to Helping Hands Foundation (helpinghandsgroup.org) or to a charitable cause of one’s choosing.
