WEST HARTFORD – Elana Hoffman Larson may be director of the Hartford Jewish Coalition for Literacy, but she also wears another hat, that of an accomplished professional flutist who has played at venues throughout the U.S. and Austria. Hailed as “a very accomplished and versatile young professional,” Hoffman Larson has performed with several opera companies, including Opera Intimate at Lincoln Center in New York, and with many orchestras, among them the Houston Ballet Orchestra as Solo Piccolo, Orchestra X, the Connecticut Chamber players and as featured flute soloist in recital with Hazzan Naftali Herstik, chief cantor of the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem. Hoffman Larson has received several Evelyn Preston Grants for Public Performance and has also broadcast live concerts on KPBX in Spokane, Wash.. She has recorded for The Discovery Channel and with the AIMS Orchestra of Graz, Austria. In March 2007, Hoffman Larson played her debut recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as an Artists International Audition winner.
The Beth El chamber concert will feature Baroque music with a modern twist. Beth El’s artistic director and conductor Cantor Joseph Ness will be joined by Hoffman Larson, pianist Tamila Azadaliyeva, the Beth El Adult Choir, and the Beth El Chamber Ensemble in a program of works by J.S.
