Dr. Hugh Blumenfeld joins Saint Francis

HARTFORD – Hugh Blumenfeld, M.D., Ph.D., of Coventry, a family practitioner, has joined the medical staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Blumenfeld received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He served as a resident in the University of Connecticut/Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Family Practice Residency Program.
Blumenfeld holds a Master’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in poetics from New York University. He also holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Board certified in family medicine, Blumenfeld is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians, Connecticut Association of Family Physicians, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.
In addition to his medical career, he is a professional songwriter and recording artist. He has released six CDs of original songs on three independent labels and has appeared with Richie Havens, Suzanne Vega, John Mayer, Peter, Paul & Mary, and others.
At Saint Francis, Blumenfeld is practicing as a member of The Family Medicine Center at Asylum Hill.
