Leo “Lee” Liberman, 96, of New Haven, died Feb 21. Born in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Jacob and Rebecca Liberman. He was the devoted husband of 75 years of Lillian (Estren) Liberman, whom he married on Feb. 27, 1944. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and fought in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. He was past president of The Orchard St. Shul and an active member of Westville Synagogue. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Anita Silver of Berlin, Kathi Liberman of Rocky Hill, and Laurie Becker and her husband Benny of Orange; his grandchildren, Jennifer Cavey and her husband Joseph, Brian Silver and his wife Rebecca, Maggie Becker, and Timothy Becker and his fiancé Elise Bitterman; his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Libby and William. He was predeceased by his sister Tessie Sadowsky and his brother Joseph Liberman.
