Norman Kern Silverman, 96, of Hamden, Conn., died Nov. 25. He was the husband of Elaine Straka. Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Louis and Sophie Silverman. He was a decorated World War II veteran who served in France and Germany with the 673rd Field Artillery Battalion (1943-1946). In addition to  his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert Silverman of New York, and Nancy Silverman Puklin and her husband David of Bala Cynwyd, Penn.; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey Puklin and his wife Meg of Sausalito, Calif., Leah Silverman Puklin of New Haven, and Jahan Silverman of Sacramento, Calif.
