Talk of the town: Iran deal

Approximately 100 people were on hand to hear Chris Backemeyer of the U.S. Department of State discuss the ins and outs of the Iran nuclear deal at a forum hosted by Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) at the University of Hartford on Thursday, August 27. Backemeyer, who serves as the State Department’s deputy coordinator for Sanctions Policy , was lead sanctions expert for the United States during the P5+1 negotiations with Iran that led to the agreement now before Congress. “It is always a privilege to hold these forums and speak directly with my constituents,” said Larson. “I was especially pleased to have Chris join me, and I want to thank him and the State Department for their participation. This is a historic moment for the United States and the world, and it is crucial to make sure everyone has the chance to learn about the nuances and implications of the agreement with Iran.” The full forum is available online at CT-N at http://www.ctn.state.ct.us/ctnplayer.asp?odID=11917.
