Standing Together

Howard Sovronsky, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, Federation chair Eric Zachs, Rabbi Debra Cantor of B’nai Tikvoh Shalom in Bloomfield, Steve Ginsberg, director of the Anti-Defamation League’s CT Regional Office, and Steve Glassman, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of CT, participated recently in America United Against Hatred and Bigotry, a press conference hosted by the American Muslim Peace Initiative. Held at the Legislative Office Building on Dec. 14, the event brought together representatives from all of Hartford’s major faith communities and elected officials to stand united against hatred and facilitate a forum of mutual respect, collaboration and support. Connecticut’s Muslim leaders condemned ISIS and reinforced their loyalty to the United States, while political and other religious leaders from the Jewish, Catholic, Protestant and Sikh faiths all stood in solidarity with the Muslim community.
